Special Tests for Freshmen
English language proficiency test is to measure freshmen’s English language skills to provide them with more systematic and effective English education. Based on the scores, students are placed on either of English Foundations, College English 1, College English 2, and Advanced English.
Mathematics achievement test is to measure freshmen’s mathematical skills to provide them with more systematic and effective mathematical education. Based on the scores, those students who lack basic understanding of mathematics, or those who may have difficulties keeping up with regular college mathematics courses, are placed on either of Basic Calculus or Elementary Calculus, while those with a high level of mathematical knowledge are recommended to take Honor Calculus. Typically, those who scored 0-30 points on the test are placed on Basic Calculus or Elementary Calculus and those who scored more than 70-80 points are placed on Honor Calculus.
Physics proficiency test is to elect those students who have great potential in the field of physics to offer them concentrations that fit their interest. Therefore, physics courses feature customized curriculum suited to its students’ level.
